Scientific ocean drilling is a foundational research capability to the nation and society. In this letter, the US-SODA Founding Members underscore the critical importance of supporting continued and future scientific ocean drilling in the United States of America through a JOIDES Resolution bridging program between 2024-2028 and the lease or acquisition of a new U.S. operated global-ranging riserless drilling vessel.
